Sharing the Mombasa Experience...

The Mombasa Amahoro experience was unique in its nature. For me, it was like a piece of diamond with a wide variety of beautiful facets. On the one hand, there was this beautiful Mombasa Continental resort, with its relaxing atmosphere. The location of the place, right on the Indian Ocean, with the constant wind blowing from the ocean, and the palm trees all around; all that was wonderful. That was the right place to meet in.

On the other hand, I was thrilled by the challenging presentations. I would say, we heard things some of us had heard, presented in what I believe was the most challenging ways. For me, it was like you could not attend the conference and fail to do something when you leave. The urge to do something also came from the fact that guys there are not theorists: they are busy changing the world around them, applying what they preach.

Beyond that, there was this relaxed socialization. I finally understand why they call it a conversation! It was a good thing to see people from as diverse backgrounds as one can imagine come together in a spirit of brotherhood, getting to know one another, sharing their experiences, encouraging one another. An occasion like this is unique in that it makes it possible for disciples all over the world (though only a small group) to know what they fellow brothers and sisters are involved in and the challenges they are facing. This creates a sense of worldwide unity in the body of Christ and is to encourage.

Talking about the theological ingredient in the solving of today’s problems was really exciting (I was part of the theological track). It creates the strong feeling of being purposefully placed in this world just as it is to contribute in remedying the many problems that cripple the world today: a good dose of medication against the effects of the evacuation theology some of us might be still struggling with!

It would be unfair not to mention the team that planned it all! They did it right and do deserve warm thanks. Coordinating everything in such a smooth way is an act worth praising. May the Lord keep on blessing them all. The only problem was that the event was so fast! I just hope the span of time until the next Amahoro Gathering will be as fast!

The fact that a few words by Clinton could have such an impact in this region indicates that many countries in Asia are more or less under the influence of the US. It doesn't matter if these countries felt they were acting.
